Network Orchestration System

March 26, 2020

Yaana’s Network Orchestration System (NOS) is a virtualization framework for lawful intercept and network mass metadata collection for analytics, compliance, and security applications. NOS provides stateful awareness of users, targets and network configuration enabling the timely deployment of software agents to the relevant network element. The infrastructure agents register with NOS as they begin execution, which builds data acquisition overlay topology scalable from small network operators to country-wide networks involving hundreds or thousands of wired, wireless, and virtualized voice and data network operators.

For lawful intercept applications, LI requests are sent to NOS using an X1 interface which prompts the NOS components relevant to the target in all networks serving that target to configure the infrastructure agents for the intercept, mediation, and delivery. NOS uses an open interface that can be used by other control systems to configure data acquisition tasks for a variety of network events, triggers, and targets. The NOS environment also accommodates in-switch solutions and SDN/NFV environments.

In-Switch Interception Solution

Yaana’s capabilities extend to leveraging existing infrastructure equipment network acquisition capabilities. In cases where network elements have traffic acquisition capabilities, NOS agents utilize their provisioning interface to configure the element to deliver relevant traffic. The agents also receive the output from these elements and will normalize the information for analysis, mediation, and delivery by other NOS components or Yaana/third party analysis and/or compliance products.

Virtual Networks (SDN/NFV) Interception

Yaana’s Network Orchestration System (NOS) coupled with our containerized monitoring, acquisition, and mediation components provide a flexible capability set that can integrate into a variety of SDN/NFV environments seamlessly. NOS can be used stand-alone for an SDN/NFV smart network inspection overlay or in conjunction with SDN/NFM Management and Orchestration (MANO) and element management (EM) components. These virtualized components for configuration, acquisition, mediation, and delivery can be used as separate standalone components or as a complete end-to-end solution in SDN/NFV networks.

Key capabilities include

  • End-to-end automated provisioning, management, mediation, delivery
  • High-Security data bus architecture with encryption, authentication
  • Modular, Scalable agent design allows snap-in, snap-out migration & operation
  • Standard HI-1 interface for interoperability
  • Integration for on-switch LI elements, Monitor Centers, Mediation systems
  • Extensible integration to automate access/processing of new data types (Number Portability, CDRs, OSS/BSS platforms).
